Annie Everingham is an Australian visual artist and creative freelancer. An intuitive and colour driven creative, she combines a love of textile design, fashion, interiors and art to encapsulate the elements of beauty found in everyday life, creating dreamy contemporary abstract artworks using acrylics, ink and oil pastels.
While a keen illustrator and painter since childhood, Annie was formally trained in design, with no plans to pursue her art practice professionally. But while completing her graduate year of a fashion & textile design degree through the prestigious UTS Fashion program in Sydney, and yet to demonstrate a sound ability to thread a bobbin properly, Annie discovered the art of creating abstract textures and prints on fabric and left sewing tailored pants to the experts. She found her groove stripping back the garment design process and shifting focus to creating abstract patterns, textures and artworks through hand painting, dyeing and digital printing onto silks – and her practice has continued to evolve ever since. After graduating from university in 2013, Annie moved to Newcastle and began selling her own range of textiles, prints and stationery products at local markets, and before long, had amassed a small following of clients who were also eager to get their hands on an original piece of art.
Annie is now a full time artist and operates a small business alongside her partner Chris. Together they’ve proudly built a small company with a lot of heart, wholesaling design products and original artworks to a range of interiors, lifestyle and design stores. Her original artworks are currently sold through Australian retailers Fenton & Fenton (Melbourne) and Jumbled (Orange NSW) and she also paints commissioned pieces for private clients and stylists. Her work is richly layered with references to the world of textiles, pattern, interiors, architecture, clashing cultures, flowers and natural elements. Passionately exploring technique, composition and colour, she brings a youthful and unreserved signature style to each new work. Her paintings explore the intersections of line and colour, with an emphasis on bold hyper coloured shapes, feminine pastels, and expressive textures. Excited by every possibility and pushing herself to uncover new potential, she is relishing in the pure joy of creating, constantly evolving her style and dynamic approach to art making.
Annie can be found most days in her sunny studio – covered in paint, drooling over colour palettes, and swearing at her computer.
Chris is the brains behind the business. An ideas man, computer wizard, operational genius, Sales Manager Extraordinaire and Boyfriend of The Year many years running, he completed a degree in Commerce with a major in Finance while also running his family business as well as undertaking the mammoth task of turning his girlfriend’s waking passion into a successful business. He can be found most nights (outside of his other day job) updating this website, packing orders and quelling Annie’s creative tantrums.
Annie & Chris live together with their pet dog Max in the coastal city of Newcastle, Australia.
